On Saturday I was lucky enough to be working on what I can only describe as the most incredible party I have ever seen.
It was was thrown by Global Creatures for the world premier of KING KONG Live on Stage. KING KONG has been in the making for the last 5 years, so this was the night that many of the GC team had been anticipating for a very long time. It had to be special.
Creative Production Services got me on board as the event coordinator and I was thrilled to be working with them, as well as the rest of the incredible contributors for the event.
Check out this stunt CPS pulled off a few weeks back … Genius!
Back to the party…
It was inspired by the 1933 movie, King Kong, and held at the Melbourne Town Hall for 2000 people (yes, 2000 people!) The decor was like a Art Deco Hotel Astor smack bang in the centre of 2013. All the (2000) guests came dressed in their finest 1930s inspired black tie and looked sensational in the mylar lined room.
The B# Band, a 20 piece swing band graced the stage, but was modernised by Tamil Rogeon with an array of amazing singers and beat makers. Amanda Fairbanks dressed the band so they not only sounded sensational, but looked the part too.
BUT, the real show stopper came from the clever team at Confetti System. Nick and Julie from Confetti System designed and built a 5m round silver mylar chandelier that was inspired by the Empire State Building and the New York skyline, and boy oh boy it was mind bogglingly beautiful.
I have been a fan of Confetti Systems for some time, and when I found out I would be working with them it was like all my VM dreams were coming true. In my opinion Confetti System are doing some really exciting installations out of Mylar and paper that are sickeningly well designed, simple and oh so inspiring.
I feel very lucky to have seen how it all comes together…
